The Department of Computer Science seeks one qualified
individual for the position of "CDF TA" for the Computing
Disciplines Facility, the facility that provides computing support
for the department's undergraduate course assignments.

Duties:
- conduct tutorials for students on aspects of the use of CDF for
course assignments
- hold "office hour" drop-in sessions for students to ask questions
about the use of CDF
- provide assistance to students in connecting their laptop/notebook
computers to CDF (wired and/or wireless)
- improve on-line CDF documentation
- answer student questions (in person and/or by email and/or through
newsgroups/web-based discussion groups) about the use of CDF
- other duties related to CDF user support as required

Requirements:
- strong familiarity with the CDF computing environment
- good knowledge of Linux and Windows; Mac experience an asset
- familarity with laptops/notebooks
- excellent communication skills in English (verbal and in writing)
- ability to work quickly under time-pressure

Duration:
54 hours (one "standard" TAship) from September January 8th through
May 15th, 2007.

Must be familiar with the software industry per se
(major sectors/segments, key players, industry structure and
economics); software business models; sales/marketing/distribution
methods and models common to the tech industry; the production and
review of financial statements; the development of business plans;
basic financial analysis; basic venture capital concepts and knowledge
of the capital markets in general. Must have strong English writing
and oral communications/presentation skills. Interested applicants

relevant academic background (e.g. MBA) and/or strong relevant
real-world experience (e.g. hands-on experience in a software firm.

The Department of Computer Science seeks a qualified individual for
the position of Teaching Assistant preparing course materials for a
graduate course on "Packet Switching and Network Architectures."

Requirements:
Must be familiar with Verilog and FPGA programming, scripting
languages, and preferably with packet switching and networking
concepts.

Duties:
Set up a small network with NetFPGA boards
(http://netfpga.stanford.edu), and build an environment for
the students to work with the test-bed. Modify the Verilog code,
preparing 1-2 assignments for the course.

Duration:
108 hours (two "standard" TAships), from May 15 to August
25th, 2007.

HLP 101 S - Help Centre TA
Duties: Staff a new Help Centre for undergraduate students,
providing help to students on a drop-in basis. Maintain some
familiarity with the current assignments in key courses. Each
Help Centre TA will focus on one area from: first-year
(csc108, 148, and 165), theory courses (primarily csc236 and
263, and possibly also 363 and 373), programming courses
(primarily csc207, 209, and 324). Other related duties
as required.
Requirements: TA experience in CS courses at UofT, evidence of
excellent teaching skills, enthusiasm for teaching beginners,
strong background in the relevant focus area (see above),
excellent communication skills in English (verbal and in
writing), excellent interpersonal skills. In addition to
filling in this online application, applicants must submit

Duration: 54-108 hours (one-two "standard" TAships) from
September 15th, 2007 to December 22nd, 2007. Work in the Help
Centre will take place in the late afternoon to early evening,

Help Centre is open. Helping to oversee the work of the Help
Centre TAs. Assisting with assessment of the Help Centre's use

Help Centre, providing help to students on a drop-in
basis. Other related duties as required.
Requirements: TA experience in CS courses at UofT, evidence of
